Sunny Showcases at Lvae Em District
Project description
How do you sell a solar panel to a poor family, living at a remote place, who does not have the money and moreover: never saw a solar panel before? That's really a challenge! It seems to be a mission impossible. Nevertheless, we will succeed! It requires a lot of smartness, a brilliant co-operation with experienced people and strong organisations. Pico Sol Cambodia has acquired an interesting role in a market introduction project that fits to our capabilities, experience and mission.
In Kandal Province Pico Sol Cambodia co-operates with Pico Sol and Kamworks in a large and exciting project. Although Kandal is a rural province, it is close (even around) the capital Phnom Penh. For this reason, it is an interesting province: Many villagers have a close relation with the city, making the province relatively prosperous and suitable for such an market introduction project. Around twenty community buildings will be equipped with solar solar panels, mainly for lighting. The people around will see the prove: Solar power works! A solar panel gives electricity. A sunny day will enable you to find your way after sunset and to read a book.
De systems will all be placed in Lvea Em district. The district is surrounded by two rivers, without bridges. It looks and feels like an island of 45 x 15 km size. There are no power lines, and as long there are no bridges, this will not be the case for coming time. For this project, the district is an ideal area to co-operate to this ambitious project. Moreover, this island is at cycle distance from our Solar Campus.
Pico Sol Cambodia's role is focussed to the starting-up phase of the project. Through the realisation of showcase projects, we will show the people that solar works.
Execution of this project is planned for the period January till September of 2010.
