A business-in-a-box for village rental entrepreneurs

Project description

Pico Sol Cambodia will train 160 micro entrepreneurs. With our mobile training centre, we will organise training sessions in three provinces: Kampong Chhnang, Kampong Speu and Kampong Cham. Candidate entrepreneurs will get a basis on solar energy, entrepreneurship. Eventually, this will result in 80 selected 'village rental entrepreneurs', who will rent solar LED lanterns in their village.

Selling a solar lantern in Cambodia A "village rental entrepreneur" hires a solar lantern to one of is village fellows.

The project is executed in co-operation with Kamworks. Kamworks manufactures the Moonlight, a made-in-Cambodia solar lantern for the Cambodian rural market. The product has been designed by Dutch designers, with optimal input from villagers. The Moonlight has a much higher quality, compared to other products that are dripping into the Cambodian market. For us this is a good starting basis to contribute to a stable and growing market share of high-quality products that can compete with the traditional kerosene lighting solutions.

business in a box A business in a box contains all the materials that will enable the entrepreneur for a jump-start of his rental business.

The business model of this project is based on an inventory at consignment by the small entrepreneurs (the business in the box). The periodical rent that is paid to the entrepreneurs both will provide in a stable income as will give a return on investment of the box.
